UCATT reaction to Gordon Brown’s speech at Labour Party Conference

Commentating on Gordon Brown’s speech today (September 29) at Labour Party conference, Alan Ritchie General Secretary of construction union, said: “Gordon Brown’s speech painted a clear picture of the fundamental differences between Labour and the Conservatives. The commitments on personal care, anti-social behaviour, cancer screening and pensions will help Labour reconnect with core voters.”

Mr Ritchie, added: “The Prime Minister’s strong commitment to increase the number of apprentices is good news for all young people, especially those who wish to pursue a career in the construction industry. Gordon Brown’s commitment to continue investing in public sector infrastructure will help to reinvigorate and instil confidence to the construction industry.”
