We're Here to Make Our Industry Safer.

There is no doubt that construction is one of the most dangerous industries in the UK. Every year dozens of people die on site, several thousands get injured or develop work-related health problems. This is why improving health and safety on construction sites plays a key role in UCATT's daily work and ongoing campaigns. We want employers to comply with the existing health and safety regulations, and we want workers to know their rights. Every worker also needs to have a good grasp of major workplace dangers so they can contribute to a better protection.

  • information on workplace hazards
  • guidance on what each worker can do to prevent injuries and work-related ill health
  • legal developments and
  • information on and for safety reps.

Get help if you had an accident at work

If you have an accident at work which is due to someone else’s negligence, or if you are diagnosed with any occupational illness, UCATT can help you secure financial compensation.

UCATT’s solicitors will act on your behalf to secure compensation for both loss of earnings and any pain and suffering incurred. This free service to UCATT members secured over £7.3 million in compensation in 2006 for UCATT members.

If you believe you have had an accident which was not your fault, or if you have developed an occupational illness you should ask your Branch Secretary, Regional Office or the Head Office for a UCATT Legal Aid Schedule. The form asks for basic details of the claim, does not commit you to any action and unlike ‘No Win No Fee’ companies will not cost you anything. You will receive the full amount of any compensation awarded to you.
