Local Authority Craft and Associated Employees

England and Wales Pay and Conditions 2007/8

UCATT has now set in process a ballot of our Red Book members in England and Wales on the pay and conditions offer received from the Local Government Employers. The union will therefore be balloting our members on the detail of the offer as set out below.

The formal offer is structured as follows:

  • An increase of 2.475% on all pay rates and pay-related allowances for Craftworkers with effect from 1 April 2007.

  • An increase of 5.3% on all Tools Allowances with effect from 1 April 2007. This figure reflects the increase in tools in the twelve months to April 2007 as measured by the Office for National Statistics and the Building Cost Information Service.

  • The establishment of a JNC working party to carry out a strategic and comprehensive review of the way that local government pays and rewards Craftworkers, with nothing ruled in and nothing ruled out – including the other elements of your 2007 pay claim. The JNC will aim to start implementing any agreed changes from 2008 onwards.

The ballot will run from 8th November 2007 until 29th November 2007.
