The statutory increase in annual leave is effective as of today (1st October 2007). This means every worker is now entitled to 24 days annual leave including public holidays. This is set to increase to 28 days by 1 April 2009 meaning every workers gets four full weeks leave PLUS eight public holidays.
Whilst UCATT are disappointed that the government has delayed the increase to 28 days from 2008 to 2009, we are pleased that this long overdue increase in leave has finally arrived. This has been something that UCATT has continuously campaigned for and believe it is the least that our hardworking members deserve.
