Abuse of Migrant Labour

With the continuing boom within the Construction Industry and building Employers failure to train Apprentices – the Employers’ remedy is to bring in Migrant Workers.  Often these workers are open to the most blatant abuses…….long hours, low wages and “rip-off” accommodation charges being the most common.  The North West Region is campaigning for legislation to include Construction within the recent Gangmasters Bill; contacting MPs to raise this question in Parliament as well as moving and securing a Resolution to this effect at the North West TUC Annual Conference. 

Failure to act, in support of Migrant Workers, will result in lower wages and inferior terms & conditions for all Construction Workers.
