UCATT Eastern Region Work With Kier to Help Ensure a Bright Future for the Construction Industry

Despite a drop of 26% in the amount of apprenticeship places available since last September, UCATT Eastern region have helped buck the trend by working in partnership with Kier Harlow. In total, 10 apprentices have been taken (eight are pictured below). All are now members of UCATT.

Regional Secretary Brain Rye declared, “Kier Harlow are to be congratulated for their commitment to training and their commitment to young people which will ensure the future of the industry and the skills needed for the years ahead, in Harlow, Essex.”

UCATT is campaigning to ensure that more apprenticeship places are available to help plug the increasing skills gap in the construction industry and hopes many more follow in Kier Harlow’s footsteps.

Last year there were just 7,000 apprenticeship places for 50,000 applications.
