UCATT Education and Training

Our aims are:

To create a range of education and training services to benefit individual and potential members.

To market and promote UCATT to companies, members and potential members – to "build the brand".

To participate in national and regional initiatives and extend UCATT’S range of influence.

To build effective and practical working partnerships with companies, Learning and Skills Councils, CITB, the TUC and government to secure funding and create opportunities for training construction workers.

To use training to develop the full-time staff of UCATT.

Birkbeck College London -

BA Organization of Work, Economics and Labour Law

This course is taught in conjunction with the Institute of Employment Rights, Birkbeck College and the TUC and is primarily aimed at trade unionists who wish to extend their knowledge of the issues impacting on the labour movement today. It is taught via block release and independent study, and students are required to attend college for three one-week periods a year (one per term)for lectures and three days during the summer for assessment.

For those who do not want to complete a full undergraduate degree, a Certificate of Continuing Education is available at the end of year one.

This course is ideal for those who have completed the TUC's training.

The TUC is offering to finance two bursary places on this course for the academic year 2005/6.
